NO SNOW TO SPEAK OF, YET.

December is here.Susie, the dogs, one of the cats and I got out before the opening of deer shotgun season and got our second cedar for Christmas.

Its a bit of a walk back to the ridge where the cedars grow.  But, it's well worth the walk to have that smell of fresh cedar in the house.

Will with a little rainbow...

My last three outings on the trout stream.

Out fished by Will  and I out fished brother Greg.
Out fished by  Danny.  Cold as can be plus I got a new little 1/8th oz. mepps spinner hung up in a tree.
Unlike other trout fishing lures, Mepps spinners are not designed to imitate any of a trout’s normal diet. They tempt a trout into biting by appealing to its natural instincts. Spinners use flash and vibration to attract fish because of the revolving blade. This is why Mepps Aglia spinners will catch trout when no other lure will.
Rainbow trout and brook trout will hit a lures when they are traveling downstream with the current or additionally they will hit when they are coming upstream. Conversely, large brown trout will rarely, if ever, strike lures that are being retrieved upstream against the current. The bigger fish of all three species of trout are more likely to bite a trout spinner that is flowing downstream with the current. If you are fishing for trophy trout of any species it is important to keep this in mind.  Also, keep it out of the trees!

I spotted these morning doves on the line on my way home from school the other day.

After decades of banning the sport, Iowa began a dove-hunting season that rans through Nov. 9.

not many guys I know of putting in any time to hunt these little doves.

I looks like these birds will be able to hit the bird feeders in town again.
