Custer Gallatin National Forest

We pointed the Bison NW for Bozeman
And made camp for the next three nights, just up the mountain above the Hyalite Reservoir

The water was cool and refreshing
It was good to get cleaned up a bit before heading down to Bozeman to
GoFast to check out Beau's camper build.
But first we hiked down by the spill way and fish ladder
We'll also hit walmart to restock some supplies.

It was great to see the shell Beau and I would be taking to Alaska next summer.
Well built with an upper and lower birth
Beau will be heading back up north for his birthday in about a month.
The guys doing the install dialed Beau and I in to Montana Troutfitters.
They told us about a lovely alpine lake.

On To The Big Horns

In order to get to our next camp in the Big Horn mountains we had to ford a stream and drive down a rough road.  As always we explored the surrounding area, we ate well and played cribbage.
As we departed the next morning Beau chose a road leading up a mountain side.
We looked over the ridge and spotted three elk in the distance so of course we crept up on them to get a closer look.
With binoculars in hand we crept ever closer
We got as close as 50 yards away watching and listening as the herd of 50 plus elk, males, females and young calves fed and called to one another in the meadow.
Although Beau and I have seen elk in the wild before this was special because we could hear them bugel and we were much closer than we had ever been before.
Walking back to the truck I snapped a pic of the shooting star or maybe just to rest for a bit,
This Marmot and a big rabbit were our only visitors at this camp.

The Start of Summer Tour 2021 - Wyoming

Armed with only the knowledge from a couple random Instagram posts.  Beau and I set out for this undisclosed location. Not really knowing much more than a few pics and a name.
Time to set camp
Our typical plan is to pop a top and explore the area.
Our smiles shows you just how happy we are to be back out exploring.
After checking out the falls we hit the high ground.
The moon was high in the sky and still light out at about 9 pm
Once the sun set it was time for a bite to eat.  Beau's burger wraps and spanish rice did the trick.
Day 2 at camp site #1 and it was time to fish...  Not too long after we wet a line and we doubled

After our morning fishing outing it was time for a refreshing dip.
Once you got use to it the water was fine.
Some more afternoon fishing and then another dip and that was the last we saw of those sunglasses.
On to the Bighorns....
