Back To School... Soon

First stop was down on river front to check out the  new art installation that Marty and Ron erected last week.
If we're going out on the river we better grab a few worms to drown.  Just incase
 The crew

no luck fishing and not enough gas in the tank for an adventure.  We better support the local economy.

First on the road break down with the bus... The most important tool is a mechanic who knows his way around an engine.
It also helps to have a few tools on board to make the needed repairs.

Sny McGill

Sunday Martino and I loaded up the gear to venture up north to Sny McGill in search of cold water and trout.
We checked out the big river in Guttenburg
Sny McGill is a tributary that flows into the Mississippi River just south of Pikes peak.
We wasted no time setting up camp and got right to the fishing.

 a fish basket for supper.
and a little pro-kadima afterwards to burn a few calories

A fireside chat and some star gazing and call it a day.

This morning we biked up stream and hit a few pocket.
here's a little brown who was hungry for breakfast.

Six Days & Counting....

Last night we went down to the evening market in DBQ and then caught Lilly Hiatt.  John Hiatt's daughter down at the Busted Lift.  She was with three guys and they had a great sound.

This was our Gompcarpus physocarpus: Asclepias physocarpa is the former botanical name, Goose plant, Giant swan milkweed, Hairy balls three weeks ago. It had several monarch caterpillars on each plant.

Here are the flowers... Typical milkweed.
One if the first of many to hatch out in the next few weeks.
I hit the stream several times this week and finally managed to catch a few keepers for Jace to smoke.

What do you think about my make-shift stringer?

Three nice trout in the creel so time to kick back in the shade and wait and wait and wait for Jace to work his way up stream.

It's Just Around the Corner

I moved a few rocks this morning and stirred up this Blue lined skink.   One of the cats may have had a run in with this one earlier this spring.
Two adults and 5 cygnets doing well on the mill pond.

There was a little variety of prairie plants along the newly restored section of stream.
Nice Brown

One of several nice smalli's.
