Just a Spring Evening

S

With all the rain the last few days one the strangest things that you might see are the bright orange globs hanging in the eastern red cedar trees.  They are actually fungi.
The life cycle of the cedar-apple rust fungus (Gymnosporangium juniperi-virginianae) depends on both apple and eastern red cedar hosts. It’s possible to find cedar-apple rust anywhere where eastern red cedars and apples coexist.

Maxine is able to coexist with the morels that are right below her tongue.

The North side of the house looks great and has all the smells of spring time with lilacs and flowering crab filling the air.

White bleeding heart, moss, ferns and new fallen petals
Susie made some awesome pasta while I was out mushroom hunting.

Morals, pasta and Iowa chops

Oh,  I don't even think about enjoying a meal like that unless the kitchen is filled with the sent of fresh cut lilacs.    :)
