Celebration in the Springs.

Beau had a full house with Kimber, Jordan and the two kids.  So, Barb, Susie and I stayed in Manitou at the buffalo lodge.

and bycle resort
We had a great room with a kitchenette, there was a heated pool and bikes
We didn't see a buffalo but we did see a Black Bear just blocks away.
Jace the birthday boy playing with parchment paper.
We put Kensley to work shucking corn for the party
This late night party crew went for a 3.7 mile run.

Sweet.

Uncapped and spun out several frames to honey today
The workers will clean out any honey left in the frames.
Just over 3 gal. when its all said and done.
clean up and then hit the tub for a bit.

The color and flavor of honey will vary depending on the source of the nectar. I try not to mix frames from different hives when I harvest honey.  As a general rule the darker the honey the stronger the taste.

The color and flavor of honeys differ depending on the nectar source (the blossoms) visited by the honey bees. In fact, there are more than 300 unique types of honey available in the United States, each originating from a different floral source. Honey color ranges from nearly colorless to dark brown, and its flavor varies from delectably mild to distinctively bold, depending on where the honey bees buzzed. As a general rule, light-colored honey is milder in taste and dark-colored honey is stronger.

A Market Place Find.

I checked out market place on FB and found an 8' Shakespheare fly rod and real
So I went up to get the gear and met up with Susie
for a bike ride and lunch, before heading to Platteville to check
Steve's hive
It worked on this rainbow

 and this one too.
Well, that's good.  I'll just hit a few good holes before I head back to the car.

And then whop! I knew it was a good fish and after loosing a big bass last weekend I wanted to make sure this one didn't get hung up in the weeds and break off.

Staycation At Camp-O-Jimmy.

Thursday afternoon I rolled into a great campsite, located just south of Chesnut Mountain Resort and only a couple miles away from the boat launch at Blandings Landing.

The campground hoast, Jimmy showed us around
We watched as he added some blue dye to the water.  He said,  it need to give the Blue gills their color
Jimmy also preformed some amazing stunts on his four wheeler.
We toured some of the homes of the Galena Territories
I guess the only downside of our stay was,  the punnishment for inapproaperiate behavior is a stint at Botonamo Bay.
Fishing action was hot on both a texas rig rubber worm
and blue gills on a fly rod with poppers.  Note, the vibrant blue colors on this spesimen

By Saturday am it was time to break camp.  Until next time...
The End.

Float trip with Steve.

Steve and I dwecided to beat the heat and hit the park
The temperature was in the 90's* F by the time we hit the stream
At one of the first shady bends below the bluff  I caught the first of many nice trout.
a 14" brown.
I also got a nice rainbow out of the same stretch of water
We just got off the lake as the rain came down
what a great day... We kept 9 and I releaced another 4 or 5
sheltering in place from the rain under the tailgate
Time for a picknick.
