As we drove North along the Mississippi on the Wisconsin side, I recalled the morning Beau and I made the same drive on our way to Alamakee County to hunt grouse.
In a Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold, October is the hunting season for the rough grouse. In his essay Leopold says: The sweetest hunts are those that are stolen by going to a place so deep in the wilderness where nobody has been or by stealing a hunt right under someone's nose.
The more I think about that line the more i believe that's how I feel about trout fishing.
I enjoy stealing a fishing trip, being alone along a trout stream, catching a trout on a stream that no one fishes anymore or out fishing a buddy.
