Dam nice to get out and explore
and gather some drift wood
before 8 am it was still cool, below 30 *F but coffee and fresh donuts in the car always helps.
We can't take everything we wanted home.
We still had some time to kill so it was off to the Maquoketa Caves.
a head of all the crowds, we had the place all to ourselfs
Even though the caves were closed due to bat hibernation and Covid we were able to get out and hike the trails
as we hiked underneath the natural bridge
I pointed out the hanging daggers of death as the early morning sun heated the rocks
and that was all Susie needed to hear.
and we quickly moved on down the valley.
a warm rest by a beautiful patch green moss
Some of the rewards of our labor.
It was a great morning out.
