Time for the Sugar Moon

The Sugar Moon peaks over the roof of the house.

The first drips and so it starts

The bags are set and now we wait.

Filling up nicely

Not all work.  Susie and I hung with these two Friday night

And then got the goods to enjoy this Saturday evening.

Next weekend we boil!

Snow shoes and sleds,

Another section of stove pipe and supplies

Time to take the pan down on the sled

My wood supply is buried under the snow so it's time to gather some wood.

Bushcraft snow shoe repair ... It'll do in a pinch.

First tap of 2021 is in

No drips today but the upcoming week is primed for a Feburary run.

The Speedaway

Susie and Maxine are on there way.  Ace will wait for a little less snow before he ventures down to the Bush

Perfect conditions

The shack is under cover and ready for Sundays snow

More trees to tap tomorrow

 

Making Tracks to the Sugar Bush

The snow has been piling up and there's another 3" of wet snow in the forcast.

The tracks in the snow tell the tail of who has ventured out in search of food.

Like this guy who could care less as I drove along side in the sub zero weather

The snow pack is a foot plus and the snowshoes were the best choice for getting down to the sugar bush

Maxine and I made some tracks of our own

There's a lot to be done before any sap goes into the pan

 First to get all the snow removed and get things dougout and back under cover befor the next snow.

MY VALLENTINE

My Vallentine was busy making pretzels at the Convivium

These were the quality controle bites

Fresh out of the oven

Trying out some new sweet dance moves

Not the last word but something just as tasty

And that's how it's done... I'm a lucky man!
