We're not homesteders as such, but we do live a simple life that is in touch with the cycle of work and rest is evident throughout nature. Our approach to living, based largely on the reduction of wants and a mostly non-monetary return from our organic horticulture, bee keeping and other sorts of labor. Were living the good life along the Mississippi river valley in north eastern Iowa.

Beau and I went north to Odds to celebrate Scott's birthday and to play a little nondominant hand ping-pong.
Clean your ears out and vote, Donnie!
Back down river to see the Fatmen B-ballers down at the Legion
We walked the parimeter with the hounds
Then Beau ran.
Spike! Dead head.

Snow Day 2020
An ice storm came through last night. I started the morning off with a two hour delay and then it changed to NO SCHOOL. St after cleaning the basement the dogs and I did alittle hike.
Jace to the rescue. The big O put his chains on the truck so we to a slow noisy drive out to the farm to feed the cats.
We heated up the shop
and played some ping pong
as long as we were in the neighborhood we decided to wet a line
I hit the upper end an Jace hit the lower stretch. Two each. All rainbows that's not to say I didn't have a few other strikes that I didn't hook. All and all a pretty good snow day :)

Oh, What A Night!
1 - 9 - 20 55* F
After school I fed the cats and went for a walk
The prairie was beautiful at sun set.
I wet a line and on the first cast I hooked in to this beautiful brown!
I was pretty excited and I was in a rush to get this fish back into the stream unharmed.
My PB 20+" Brown....WoW what a rush!
It took me a while to calm down and the next cast I caught the nice brown
The temps were still nice and I had a little bit of sun light so I hit one more pool and I caught a rainbow.
Time to call it a night.

More Stream time with brother Steve.
Steve came over for a day on the stream before I have to head back to school for the second semester.
Getting out and seeing beautiful stretches of stream like this makes up for the times when I'm on the stream and I don't catch any fish.
Well, that was the case today, no fish oh and no mustasche.
It didn't seem to bother Steve either.

Day Two Of The New Year.
Jimmy and I checked in on the cats
Then we hit rolly
And we each caught a nice brown to start the year off on the right foot
We did a little hike down on the public land and I found this buck in a feeder stream.
A new project to clear the banks of the stream Phase II
