After buying the Grand Hotel back in June

We bought this beautiful old door on facebook market place form a gal in Anamosa

We spent many hours removing the old paint and refinishing the wood work.

The old door is out

Measure twice and cut once.

and chisel 

And its in

And the old door found a new home too

 

Not What I Had Planned

The best laid plans of mice and men...

A trip to Batey Hollow to visit old Slew Foot wasn't what i had planned this morning 

but three hours later, nine buckets of creek gravel and a few rocks later

we had a start on a limestone landing for the dock.

The oak leaves had good color as I drove the southern route home

Over the gate way to the Island City

Home in time to see the Beaver moon rise.
