FROM MIGHTY OAKS

Well, It's that time of year again.....Homecoming week.
and the schools neighbor got hit again.
Todays lesson was Acorns Alive.  We collected acorns and explored what lives inside.
So, these kids don't have a very strong gang symbol game.
I guess that's not a bad thing
Tonight Maxine and I hiked the timber looking for fall mushrooms
We checked out large old oaks that were over a 100 years old looking for hen of the woods and chantrells

No luck but a good walk among some mighty oaks

Chinking Tyme.

It's a cool saturday morning.  So, after building a small fire in the polebarn I walked down toward the gardens to see what project I'll be working on next.

So, I mixed up a batch of mud for chinking for the shed down below
My chinking recipe is 45 o/o  blue clay,  45o/o yellow clay loam mix form under the house and while most traditional mixes us a straw horsehair mix I use tyme.  Why tyme?  because I've got nothing but time ....

Why elce would you do this.
Another trip down to harvest

CAR ISSUES,

My early morning hike but not by choice.

On the way to work
the subaru broke down two miles away from home
I got the kids outside for some social distancing
With the subaru broke down that means going with plan B.  the Bus.
So I'm still having alturnator issues but I managed to make it from bellevue to maquoketa to DBQ.

Slip the belt back on and back down to Bellevue

It might be here for a bit
But its not the worst place to be.
